Vismayas Max‘ films selected for 10th Sichuan TV Festival


Trivandrum based Vismayas Max Animation Studio’s 2D animated home production project ‘Emposho-Who Needs a Master?’, an animated series of Zen stories currently in production at the studio, has been selected for the International Golden Panda Awards for Animation 2009 Sichuan TV Festival. Also selectd for the featival is ‘Global Warning’, a five-minute animation film directed by Nikita Jayakumar, a class X student, made as a part of the two month animation workshop conducted at Vismayas.

The two have been shortlisted from 3,963 entries received from 62 countries and regions. International “Gold Panda” Awards of 2009 (10th) Sichuan TV Festival (SCTVF) presents five competitions: International “Gold Panda” Awards for Documentary, International “Gold Panda” Awards for Animation, International “Gold Panda” Awards for Student, International “Gold Panda” Awards for New Media and a special event - International “Gold Panda” Awards for Films on Natural Disasters.


Speaking to Animationxpress.com Vismayas Max Animation Studio Marketing & Business development Head Pramod Nilambur said, “We are very happy on being shortlisted. We had conducted a two month workshop with 9 students where they were taken through the process of making such a film themselves. They had each come up with a short film each on various topics at the end of the workshop.”

Mohanlal's Vismayas Max, the animation studio has been picked by the international social networking community Facebook to create its video applications, which would reach nearly 250 million Facebook users around the world.

Recently for the first time that Facebook, which is ranked second in the world as the most used social network after My Space, has outsourced the creation of video applications.
Around 30 video greetings lasting 30-35 seconds done by Vismayas have already been uploaded by Facebook in its site and they are turning into a hit in Australia and USA. They are all set to be launched in India next month.
It’s a 45-member Vismayas team, right from its creative head to the trainee, who are racking their brains to come out with amusing animations. They have only completed 50, and 200 are in the offing..
